Joel MacCluskey

A Native Coloradan, Joel is a professional drummer, 3D animator, motion graphics designer and a photography hobbyist. Joel realized he had an affinity for art and drumming at the age of 11. He studied drums with local legend Robb Heskett and eventually attended CU Boulder’s music school. He then switched to Colorado Institute of Art, receiving a degree in graphic design. Joel has played at various churches and been in dozens of Colorado music groups since 1984. He was befriended by his drumming hero, Yellowjackets’ Will Kennedy, who provided Joel with copious amounts of inspiration. He met Dave LeMieux in 1994 at Colorado Community Church and he and his wife, Julie, have been involved with numerous MTM projects and tours.

A proud papa to Kelia, his daughter, who is now a fashion/celebrity photographer in Los Angeles, Joel is obsessed with disc golf, craft beer, the sun and movies. He has scores of musical influences along with Will: Tony Williams, Simon Phillips and Gary Husband are major contributors to his musicality.

Joel is not a fan of the Oxford comma or double spaces after periods.
