Episode 44 – Book of Romans

Saturday, June 22
Byron Theatre, Robert & Judi Newman Center for the Performing Arts
3 PM and 7 PM Shows

G. Campbell Morgan, in A Concise Survey of the Bible, describes Romans as “the most pessimistic page of literature upon which your eyes ever rested” but also “the most optimistic poem to which your ears ever listened.”

Regardless of one’s opinion of Paul, author of more than half the New Testament, we have to admire his logic, thoroughness, and passion in proclaiming news of Redemption to the budding church in Rome.

He hoped to visit, but sent this letter “just in case” he couldn’t present this message in person. We’re so excited to share his personal testimony of God’s love – and also contemplate Biblical kindness, hospitality, Jewish prophecy, and the mystery of “the full number of Gentiles.”

Blue Gospel Scripts takes a proven, layered multimedia approach for making a message memorable and applies that to the world’s overwhelming Biblical illiteracy.

  • A multimedia stage performance, about 75 minutes long
  • Excellence from musicians and speakers
  • “Blue Gospel” songs which enhance the story and sometimes alter perspective
  • A short video to show current relevance
  • Humor (mostly dry, but sometimes downright silly)
  • To leave with a fresher understanding of God’s power throughout history and the timeless implications of the Good News.

2018: June 6, Sep 5, Dec 8
2019: TBD

Blue Gospel Scripts is best suited for middle school through early retirement.

  • You’ve read the Bible a million times but want new perspective
  • You like live music by professional musicians
  • You have questions about what the Bible actually says
  • You enjoy shows at the Buell or the Ellie
  • You feel like something is missing
  • You’re part of a Bible study but want to grow as a community and explore a new way to learn
  • You know someone who doesn’t know who David, Tamar, Isaiah, Luke, or Paul were – or YOU don’t know and want to find out
  • You believe “God helps those who help themselves” is a Bible verse (spoiler alert… it’s not).

Blue Gospel Scripts shows are free – because we think no one should ever have to pay to hear the Good News – but donations toward future performances are definitely (gratefully) accepted… and tax-deductible!
