James Roberson

Performer

As a former Guitar Center National Drum-Off winner, James has earned wide recognition for his musicianship, creativity, and leadership. His dynamic groove and overall tasteful playing have made him one of Denver’s most sought-after musicians, consultants, and producers. In addition, James has over 16 years’ experience as a Minister of Music, having served in two Denver “mega churches”; The Potter’s House and Heritage Christian Center.

Artists outside the gospel stage took notice as well, and he began playing nationally and internationally with influential jazz artists such as Gerald Albright, Eric Darius, Warren Hill, Jessy J, Jackiem Joyner, Marion Meadows, and others. James recently started his own record label, J-Rob Records, and currently has 4 artists signed! He resides in Aurora with his wife of 15 years, 2 daughters, and dog “Simba,” and loves watching classic cartoons in his downtime. Ironically, he plays the same two instruments as scriptwriter Dave, giving us opportunity to see surprise “switcheroos” from time to time (as musical needs and whimsy dictate).

In addition to adding his instrumental gifts to the stage, J-Rob’s connections in Denver’s Gospel scene have proven invaluable in increasing the BGS performer community!
