Chris Carter is a professional producer and engineer with well over 200 albums to his credit. He grew up in Memphis, started playing piano at a very young age, added drums in the 7th grade, and ultimately went on to become an accomplished pianist and virtuoso Hammond organ player by his mid-twenties. Right out of college, he discovered a deep passion for audio engineering and eventually opened his own recording studio. Over the years, he’s worked with artists such as Kirk Whalum, Issac Hayes, Kirk Franklin, Shirley Caesar, James Ingram, Anthony Brown, and J. Blackfoot. To date, his career has brought multiple Grammy and Dove nominations, as well as ASCAP and Stellar Award wins for production and engineering.

Chris is currently on the music faculty at Memphis University School in Memphis, TN, and is the organist and Music Director at Memphis’ Prince of Peace Baptist Church. In 2022 he co-founded the Memphis Sound Collective with Matt Tutor and Justin Mitchell, a creative organization focused on reinvigorating and growing the professional music community.
